Phoenix Valley Map

Someday, when Lin finishes fixing the stupid map, it will go here. That day will be soon. She promises. For now, here's the crappy one:

Phoenix Valley Territories

All territories in Phoenix Valley are there for you to roleplay in! Set up situations to happen in the territories — such as falling in the river or exploring the lighthouse — or simply put them in the background just for a setting during an important conversation. Members cannot make any extensive or permanent damage or changes to any of the territories without OOC leader permission.

Off-shore Territories

Trinity Islands

Trinity Islands lays along the Quartz Shoreline, just off the pack's southeastern coast. Composed of three plateaus jutting from the ocean, Trinity Islands is the sanctuary that the pack would plan to retreat to in the case of an emergency. The three islands have a small variety of houses and docks, though the largest of the three is the main stockhold for the pack: It contains multiple supplies, most of which pertaining to fishing and other naval activities, but also includes blankets and other emergency supplies. Pack members can get to the islands by boat, but much of the three islands has yet to be fully explored.

  • Sub-territories: Sanctuary Island

Sanctuary Island

On the center island of Trinity Island stands a grand, exquisite mansion atop a hill that has stood solidly against time. The massive limestone structure is surrounded by a wild, overgrown garden. Inside its walls, the pack has storage of supplies in case of danger or later need. The mansion boasts countless rooms, including several, well-furnished bedrooms, bathrooms, a couple kitchens, even art studios that have slowly degenerated over time. All in all, the mansion is still primarily safe to walk through, and those roleplaying there are generally allowed to logically make up rooms as they need them.

The Splash Zone

Along the coastline of Phoenix Valley is an area that seems more lively than most. As the ocean waters recess, small pockets of water are visible along the edge of the rockier portions of the beach. These pools are teeming with organisms of all sorts, from crabs and clams to barnacles and anemonies. The sand and rocks that sit on the beaches in this territory are covered in salt from the spray of the ocean, and any wolf who visits it will surely return home with a nice layer of salt on them as well.As beautiful and interesting as they are, though, the creatures inside of the pools can also be very dangerous. Sea urchins live here, creatures with hard shells and sharp, poisonous spikes, and many other poisonous animals do as well. Occasionally a small fish from the ocean will get trapped inside one of the pools, a good meal for any wolf brave enough to put a paw in.

Behind the tidal area is a long string of hotel buildings that were built along the shore. As time has passed, more and more of the sandy portions of the beach have been pulled toward the sea by the waves, the beach disappearing over the years. A few hotels sit half-submerged by ocean water, hotels that were built around a block away from the water years and years ago. The insides of these hotels are ruined, but it is possible to get inside of them is one is inventive enough. A few have almost nearly been covered by water, only their roofs visible.

Mirror Lakes Area

Mirror Lakes

Dead in the center of Phoenix Valley lies two freshwater lakes, each bordered on one side by sheared cliff edges and by sandy beaches on the other. Due to their convenient placement in the center of the pack lands, the lakes are a great source for fishing, camping, or general recreation and relaxation. Year round, the lakes embody a serenity unique only to they; it has been said that the lakes have a mysterious element that eases the mind of any troubles or worries due to the peacefulness and quiet of the area. In some spots, trees border the lakeside to make excellent fishing sites, but for the most part the lakes and the Mirror Lakes Villa (see below) that separate them are exposed to full sunlight most of day. The Villa that stretches between the two lakes is small and quaint, with a marina at each end. Many small paddleboats, canoes, and fishing vessels remain docked for use by pack members, though they are deceptively rickety at times.

Mirror Lakes Villa

Between the two beautiful Mirror Lakes is a small village, bordered on each end by docks and a marina. Two churches, two bars, a school house, post office and courthouse are the main public buildings that stretch across the villa and on its central street. Several houses curl around the dirt road and the beaches of the lake. The villa is a content, though deserted place; the innards of its buildings are unsurprisingly degenerating, but unique to the area and much of 'Souls territory. Secrets and surprises surely abound throughout the villa.

  • As of February 2011, all Phoenix Valley leadership currently lives in the Mirror Lakes Villa.
  • Jefferson Soul, Geneva Stockholm and Pripyat Soul currently live in the southernmost, larger church until the Three Moons Ranch is repaired.
  • Tala Djose lives in the northernmost chapel.

Three Moons Ranch

Ironically, the name "Three Moons' Ranch" fits the ranch and barn now more than the pack that has overtaken the farmlands and has begun to invest an interest in the grounds. Cattle, horses and a small amount of other livestock are maintained in the ranch's barn, the animals relying heavily on the members to keep them through the lean times of winter. The farm house is quaint and cozy: The rooms are sometimes used for guests, and blankets and pillows lay sprawled over couches and chairs throughout the house. There are two fireplaces in the home, a smaller one in the kitchen and a larger one in the den. Also in the house is library filled with books that the pack members often visit and spend time lounging and relaxing in.

  • The ranch is the central hub to Phoenix Valley. Leadership is usually found here; Jefferson Soul has lived in the ranch since becoming leader in February 2009. Most members know they are welcome to approach him there, as one of the bedrooms in the back is reserved for he and Geneva Stockholm. Their son, Pripyat Soul, also comes and goes.
  • As of February 2011, half of the ranch's roof was pulled off in a three-day snowstorm. The roof blew straight into the neighboring barn, leaving that building in shambles and the ranch house inhabitable. Leadership has moved to the Mirror Lakes Villa until repairs are finished.
  • Repairs to the ranch house and barn are expected to begin late April 2011.

Miscellaneous Territories

Firefly Fields

Firefly Fields is a long, large stretch of land towards the center of Phoenix Valley. Consisting of quite a few acres, the only remnants of man within the fields are an old shack and the rusty leftovers of a wagon. The field is nothing but a sea of green grass as tall as a werewolf's knees along with occasional patches of glorious wildflowers that seem to glow in the sunlight. Lofty trees litter the stretch, though scattered and few in number; they make for excellent shade from the sun that hits the field from sunrise to sunset. As a result the fields are very fertile, though stretches of heat or drought will try up the never-ending greenery. The barn itself is small and desperately falling apart. Its inside is barren of animals, but makes for a good temporary escape from rain or sun. Holes in the roof send beams of sun and dust inside. Hay lines the floor, and scattered throughout the small proximity is a rusty pitchfork, an axe, an empty rifle, and countless spiders and webs. Generally speaking, the barn looks like it could collapse at any time, and it might not be safe to stay too long, as pieces of roof occasionally break off and fall. The wagon outside is aged and immobile, on account of its rusted wheels and seasoned parts.

However, the fields during the day is nothing compared to the evening: when the moon rises, the fields flicker to life. As its namesake says, countless fireflies appear and dot the blackened skies throughout the night, weaving this way and that in a spectacular display. Eventually, so many fireflies speckle the scene that one might not be able to distinguish the stars from the little bugs, but naturally, the right hills and stretches make for excellent stargazing. Even during foggy or raining nights, the field still lights up like a Christmas tree thanks to the glowing bugs. The serene beauty of Firefly Fields at night is simply astounding and deserves a visit from both guests and members alike.

Hill of Graves

Hill of Graves litters old, barely distinguishable headstones along the northeastern edge of Phoenix Valley. The grass, sickly as if the dead were choking away even the plant life with their presence, grows low and sparse around the graves and makes no mercy for flowers to grow or blossom. Trees thickly border the site, restraining a majority of sunlight from reaching the ground and maintaining an almost constant, eerie shade throughout the day. However, at dusk the sun manages to innocently peek through, but paints the graveyard a chilling bloody shade of red on days of an open, warm sunset. A few bones of corpses had risen up over time, jutting through the earth in some places while laying open and exposed in others. The graveyard in diameter is still rather small, housing only a few dozen headstones, and the air always seems a tad bit chillier than it should.

Gardenia Grove

This hard-to-find territory is difficult to locate because of its very small size and placement in the east, but is worth the time spent looking for it. A hidden recluse, Gardenia Grove is a territory that overshadows all others in beauty. A large variety of flowers and flowering trees grow, an attraction for any wolf looking for a romantic spot to spend some time with a prospective lover. There are tree stumps leftover from the old logging days that provide good sitting-spots, some in more secluded, private areas of the colorful fields. At night time the fields light up, fireflies providing flashes of brightness in both the air and down in the grass.

However, there is a danger to this territory; in the far western corner of Gardenia Grove sits The Hives, twenty abandoned bee hives that were once worked by humans in the honey production business. The hives look innocent, boxes organized in a square pattern, but they house very dangerous creatures. Over time, the swarms have taken over not only the hives but many of the nearby trees with their nests. There is one place that a wolf might seek refuge from the bees: a honey-production building can be found in the western corner as well, a building that is air-tight and specially designed to provide protection from the bees. If left alone, the bees are relatively harmless, but if they feel that their homes are under threat... Lovers beware.

Red Vine Hollow

Red Vine Hollow lies near the mid-eastern borders of Phoenix Valley. An ancient, time-beaten cottage stands lonesome on the edge of a forest, the building encircled by a stout wall of stones that border the property. Vines grow wild from the trees and coat the smal cottage in a thick layer of the scarlet greenery, growing its shade of blood red throughout the year as if the vines were dead. In some places, the vines grow thick enough to shelter rain and weave between tree canopies to interrupt the foliage that grows there. These vines coat the roof in its entirety, peek into broken windows, and spill into the rooms within: dusty, empty rooms with dim beams of sunlight, a few ripped and musty pieces of furniture, mice and rats, and a bookcase with a few very old books toppled over. The doors are covered in vines and thus difficult to open as well.

  • In the February 2011 snowstorm plot, a tree fell over onto the Hollow and burst open an entrance — finally — straight through the roof. Other than spilled bricks of the roof spilled on the inside, the fortress-like building is in fine condition, and one can now climb the tree and jump down into the building. Getting back out, on the other hand, is a different story...

Woodview Quarry

Located on the edge of the Dampwoods is Woodview Quarry, an old abandoned limestone quarry. Large blocks of limestone still lay outlining the pools of water deep inside where the stone had been harvested years before. The area can be dangerous, though just like times of old, the younger generations like to take the dare and explore the ledges and cliff dive into the pools.

Destroyed Territories

The following territories are in shambles. Their original descriptions are maintained here, pre-destruction, for player reference, but territories should be roleplayed as in a state of permanent, unrepairable debris.

Saunder's Mill

Located between Three Moons Ranch and the Mirror Lakes Villa is an old, rickety mill. More of a historical site than anything else, the building still stands today, though it is no longer in use. The river that runs alongside the mill pours into the Mirror Lakes; it was once the source of power for the mill, and the paddles still stand in the waters. It seems the whole of the building is beginning to revert back to nature and further along in its degeneration than the rest of the territory, possibly due to the fact that it was an old building even when it was in use. Visitors beware, as the building's floors are terribly dangerous and apt to break beneath even a cautious step.

  • In a state of debris. It was demolished in the February 2011 snowstorm plot.
  • The floor has caved in, ripping the walls down. Most of the mill has crashed down into the river, making it impossible to enter. The wheel on its side, still intact, lays toppled over on the shore.
  • The water drifts through it rather smoothly, uninterrupted, making it an oddly peaceful sight.

Estrelas Praias

  • Large chunks of the roof have caved in, but for the most part, the nightclub can still be entered.
  • In the patchy areas where the roof caved in, the nightclub is completely demolished, while in others, it stands almost as pristine as before (though wet and soggy, due to snow and rain able to get in).
  • The lights and sound system no longer work — but the jukebox does. Many of the bedrooms are still intact.
  • Members should use extreme caution in entering.

Eagle Tower

In the forested area between the two Mirror Lake bodies stands the time-worn Eagle Tower, a lofty and majestic refuge that stood tall and proud during the human reign. In the old human history, Eagle Tower stood as a watch tower to alert those who lived at Mirror Lakes Villa and those who worked in Three Moons Ranch of approaching danger and also acted as a guard tower, where only two human archers fended the area long enough for the human civilians to escape to a safer place. On its gray, brick walls grow long, green vines that scale the tower effortlessly. The tower itself is square in shape, standing around 20 meters in height and 3 meters in width. Around the four sides of the tower are markings that represent the human guardians that once manned the tower, and the martyrs among them engraved into the stone as commemoration for their honorable deaths protecting the villagers.

A broken door and its well crafted arch mark the main entrance, leading to the ladder that goes up to the tower's climax. The view at the top where the archers once stood is magnificent; the Villa, the lake bodies and the ranch lay closest in perfect sight, but a great lot of the territory can be seen regardless. Hanging from the roof at the tower's very top is a gong that was used to signal the villagers. Though cracked and worn with age, it seems still usable. After the humans died off, the tower began to wither away along with them. Eagle Tower has since become a worn landmark, lacking much purpose and little known to surrounding packs, but quite a sight to behold nonetheless.

  • In a state of debris. It was demolished in the February 2011 snowstorm plot.
  • The entire tower fell over. The square, big bricks that made up its walls are literally spilled over neatly, almost as if a rook chess piece toppled over and fell in on itself. One cannot enter.
  • The gong is very, very dented, put somewhat intact. If pulled from the rocks and put up correctly, it could still make quite the noise when struck... though one not quite so noble, as the gong is very warped.
