Joining Phoenix Valley!

Thinking about bringing a character into Phoenix Valley? You're in the right place! We're always excited to see new members in the pack and getting to know their players as well. We'd be honored to have you! First, let's figure out what information you need, depending on if you are a brand-new player to 'Souls or a returner.

Players Brand New to 'Souls

Joining Phoenix Valley, like any other pack, is a pretty quick and easy process — once you've read through all the 'Souls procedures and are familiar with the site. All the reading might be overwhelming at first, but trust us — 'Souls is worth it! This page is here to guide you to the right place to start the joining process, as well as give you tips along the way. To begin, let's go over the things you will need to read (or re-read, if it's been a while).

Joining Guides - READ THESE!

In a normal circumstance, we might include the more important links here for your reference, such as the rules or policies, but they are in those joining guides for you to read already -- and we want you to read the guide(s) and look for them. ;)

'Souls Joining General Information. Start here! Read through the page, follow all the links and read them as well. This will guide you all the links below -- that thread is the entire joining process rolled up in a shell. We'll say it however many times as it takes: Please, please read all joining information before posting a joining thread!
Quick and Dirty Guide to 'Souls. The Joining General Info thread includes this link, but just in case you miss it, here it is. This guide is very useful and helpful in walking you through the entire process.

Okay, I read all the guides. Now what?

After you've read through all the sitewide information above, you should glance around other areas of the site you haven't seen yet. See what you notice and become familiar with where you can go for information, help, goodies, and everything else. Get a general feel for the awesome community that is 'Souls, and get pumped up to be a part of it! :D
Take a look at some in-character posts. The average in-character post is...
- around 300+ words
- written in third person (he/she/it, NOT I/me/we) with dialogue often set apart from the rest of the text through boldface font or a different color (not required, but makes it easier for others to read)
- Registered under the character's name, NOT the player's, often with a family name/surname.
Sometimes, it's easier to get started at 'Souls by adopting a character from the Open Characters list — doing so automatically gives you a character with a pre-made background intertwined one way or another with an active character and any in their family/pack. These instant, quick connections make it much easier to start out and get threads with current 'Souls members right away.
Read through the Active Pack Summaries. Every 'Souls pack is unique in its own way — make sure you consider all opportunities before deciding on a pack. While we'd love to have you in Phoenix Valley, if your character is a troublemaker, they'd most likely fit better in Anathema, for example.

As stated before, we're honored that you are considering joining us in Phoenix Valley, and that our pack has caught your interest and attention one way or another. Joining Phoenix Valley is virtually no different than joining any other pack, but like any other joiner, there are still a few things to consider before you post your character's joining thread.

Ask any questions you may have by posting in the Questions & Help forum or by contacting a pack leader or staff member. Don't be afraid to ask anything — we're here to help!

The Joining Thread

Before you post your joining thread...

To join Phoenix Valley, simply post a thread in our forum with the word "joining" or the letter “J” somewhere in your title. Any canine character may attempt to join. When joining, please include the following in an OOC section of your thread. Please choose #8 depending if you join OOCly (no in-character post required, but RP samples necessary), or ICly (joining post required, entire thread will ensue).
